In researching mothers who responded immediately and lovingly to their children's needs, it was found that the long term effects were adults who had confidence and a more positive out look about their place in the world.
In contrast, children who grew up without the stability of a loving and attentive mother often experienced a lack of confidence, insecurity and difficulty created stable bonds with other people long into adulthood.
